CITB test is very important if you are planning to go for any cards which are related to construction field like CSCS card. With over 61,000 non-fatal injuries in 2020, the construction sector in United Kingdom is looking for effective ways to reduce the number of people getting injured on site while working and make construction related workplace safe and secure place to work. To ensure the safe workplace specific skills training and health & safety education is important for individuals working on-site. CITB Health, Safety and Environment test which is popularly known as CITB test was developed by the Construction Industry Training Board. Via this test it is communicated to workers to maintain health and safety on-site. The objective of CITB health, safety and environment test is to understand and evalutate the knowledge of workers over a range of topics related to safety measures that worker should ensure while working on site so that he can be safe as well as not put other workers at risk. It is also beneficial for employers as employing workers that have passed CITB test will provide them comfort and confidence that their workforce will be productive and safe while working and there will not be any unpleasant accidents happening on site.

Who should take CITB test?

A CITB health, safety and environment test is suitable for any candidate who aspires to join construction industry for their career. In United Kingdom, CITB health, safety and environment test is compulsory for getting many construction related cards (like CSCS card) so in order to be qualified to work in your trade you are required to take CITB test and pass it.

Which CITB test is suitable for me or which CITB test should I take? 

CITB health, safety and environment tests can be broadly divided into three categories: for Operatives, for Specialists and for Managers & Professionals. 

For entry level applicants: CITB test for Operative is the most common test of CITB which generally is applicable and mandatory for numerous trades. You can also consult CITB or CSCS (if going for CSCS card) or the organization body whose card you are undergoing to pursue.

Duration of test

CITB health, safety and enviornment test is touchscreen test of 45 minutes.

No. of questions in test

There are 50 questions in CITB test. In operative and specialist test you have to pass 45 questions out of 50 while for manager and professionals test you have to score minimum 46 out of 50.

What if I will fail?

You can re-sit for the test by paying the test fee again.

How to successfully complete CSCS Course
